But there were two things that really stood out and made me want to dig deeper:
- first, witnessing the level of devotion betta keepers have for their fish,
- and second, learning that betta fish are often kept in harmful environments, due to lack of knowledge and some pervasive myths around their care.
I wanted to speak up for these feisty divas and empower newer owners to create healthy betta homes from the start.
Testing The Waters
You might find it surprising that I don’t actually own any betta fish – at least not yet! With a 5-year-old whose sleep schedule keeps our household on its toes, my dream of setting up my first aquarium remains on hold for now. But that hasn’t stopped me from exploring this world with enthusiasm. I’ve channeled my curiosity into learning as much as I can about these amazing fish – their care, behavior, habitats, and the rich community of enthusiasts who love them.
